Body Of Missing 4-Year-Old Found In Maryland: State Police

Maryland State Police investigators confirmed that 4-year-old Garrett County resident Fox Piper was found dead at approximately 10 p.m. on Thursday, April 20 by members of the Deep Creek Fire Department's Dive team hours after he was declared missing.

The body was found amid a multi-agency search for the child, who was reported critically missing from the unit block of Temperance Way in Oakland at approximately 7:15 p.m. on Thursday. 

Piper was last seen at approximately 6:30 p.m. on Thursday on the front porch of the family's home, which is not far from the bond where he was located.

Agencies involved in the search for the girl include: 

  • Troopers from the McHenry Barrack;
  • Criminal Enforcement Division Western Region;
  • K-9 Unit; 
  • Aviation Command;
  • Garrett County Sheriff’s Office;
  • Maryland Natural Resources Police.

The case remains under investigation.
